THE RUEFF at A.C.T.'S STRAND THEATER at 1127 MARKET STREET, SAN FRANCISCO

Florecer: To Bloom

MAY 8, 2024 at 12 p.m.

A.C.T.’s Education and Community Programs Department and Hilltop School present an original performance stemming from a yearlong creative writing project. The students, all pregnant and parenting teens, have spent the school year exploring theater and writing exercises that build confidence, address specific issues, and empower them to feel more connected to themselves and others.

Florecer: To Bloom is a poetic journey through the stages of a flower's growth, as mirrored in the experiences of the young mothers at Hilltop School. Through a bilingual collage of original writings, the play explores different expressions of life, death, and rebirth, from the new beginnings of a seed to the full blossoming of flowers. The performance draws on the joys and challenges of adolescence, pregnancy, motherhood, immigration, love and loss. Florecer: To Bloom ultimately celebrates beauty, creativity and transformation at every stage of life.

Audience is invitation-only. Contact education@act-sf.org for more information.
